lyrics

Cut this year out, make it go away.
Take my lungs out, put the memories away.

What made your soul cave in?
Who’s gonna bury you?
Who’s gonna bury you?
What made your soul cave in?
Who’s gonna bury you?
Who’s gonna bury you
Tonight?

I know you wanna fight
The demon in your spine
Waiting inside for what you never had to hide.

Cut this year out.
Cut this year out.
Cut this year out.
Cut.

What made your soul cave in?
Who’s gonna bury you?
Who’s gonna bury you?
What made your soul cave in?
Who’s gonna bury you?
Who’s gonna bury you
Tonight?

As I walk through the ruins of this plague swept city, doctors and lawyers and nurses surround us in lock-step time. And all the preacher-politicians and patron fakes and painted saints prattle on, as the last 250 years fall away like ashes from your grandmother’s cigarettes, and you forgot she’d even smoked in the first place.

The horizontals and the verticals are irrelevant, as every hyperlink and “citation needed” fall away into a perfect void of powered protein shakes and injectable regrets. Genuflect before their monolithic edifice, just so long as someone gets fucking paid.

A plague on all your houses, a plague on all your fallen kings, a plague on all you love and dread and hope and fear. We ARE Ozymandius, king of kings; behold our works, ye mighty, and despair. And who’s gonna bury you? Who’s gonna bury you? WHO’S GONNA BURY YOU?

And will you bury me too?
